Do you agree with me? I think you probably agree that, Information is the currency of today’s world. But when you have too much of something… you simply have too much. It’s called Information overload! It’s true. Listen to this: The other day I killed a plant! I felt awful. I was doing some amateur gardening with my kids and... gucha gucha! Information overload is a reality and a potential problem for parents looking for simplicity and practical help in their parenting. Too many articles on parenting do not deliver the help you need. Now back to the ocean analogy… Because in the vast sea of books and websites out there, it is such a relief to find a safe port or a calm beach. And when you find it, stick your flagpole into its sandy soil and call it yours. Go ahead, Flag it! Am I right about this so far? You see, this website is like the safe port. It means that, if information is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, Wisdom is knowing how to use the gold when you find it. Far fetched? Not at all. I don’t want you to get me wrong. Having a lot of information is not bad. The problem is when you can’t process the information and integrate it into your parenting plan. David Allen, the GTD (getting things done) expert, says that information overload is not the problem. If it were the problem, you’d walk into a library and die. If the information is hard to be processed into a practical tool or be tossed into the trashcan. Most people get stuck in the land of indecision.
